Dear Cynthia,
I am glad to hear that the Depakote is working. Don't be suprised if you continue to get negative feedback about having him on medication, and often from people who have no business giving you advice or people with zero expertise. We had our son on Ritalin for years, which helped him immensely and was definitely indicated. Even though my husband is a physician and I am a rusty RN with an MA in counseling, we still had all sorts of people telling us how bad meds were for him. Finally, I just learned to smile and tell them that we were doing what was best for our child. A few times I recommended a few heavy duty medical references and told them to come back if they had any questions. Some of these people were well meaning, others just opinionated. Just be prepared for this and don't be suprised when it happens. My best to you and your family,
Chris A.
