In reply to Nausea and sweats - Cam/Anyone, posted by Greg on May 8, 2000, at 8:28:30
> I've been having a problem recently, waking up to use the bathroom and getting nauseated upon standing, then I break out in the sweats. I currently take Wellbutrin (300mgs), Xanax (1/2mg usually), Ambien (10mgs), Neurontin (occasionally) and Ribaxin (very rarely). I've been taking these meds for a little over 2 months and the only change has been an increase of the Wellbutrin from 150 to 300mgs a day. Does anyone know if any of these meds carry this type of potential combination side effect? The sweats usually pass in about 15-20 minutes, the nausea can last 5-6 hours sometimes. I've checked some web sites but can't find any specific info. Help would be appreciated.

Orthostatic hypotension was my first thought, too, when I read your post. I did't reply because I know Cam would (and because you didn't mention feeling dizzy and 6 hours of nausea seems like a loooong time for the ANS to get itself back together.)
Cam's experiment should solve the problem. If it doesn't (highly unlikely), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause both symptoms you mentioned. This would be applicable *only* if doubling your Wellbutrin dose has reduced your appetite/food intake significantly.
Hope you have a restful night--medlib
