Yeah, Ritalin is as good a choice as any to start. If the medication doesn't agree with you, then you could compare Adderall and Dexdrine. Provigil is another choice, though pricey and kind of new. It's indicated for narcolepsy, but has the potential to work well with ADD.

I know it's weird, but somtimes ADD responds well to certain antidepressants. Desipramine, Wellbutrin, or Effexor are used for that purpose.

So there are plenty of choices. I wish there was a better way. But the best we can do is start trying them, comparing them, and stumble onto whatever agrees with your unique chemistry the best.
