Thanks to Kerry & Janice-

Janice, you don't read ALL my posts? I'm so
disappointed ;) but its nice to know _someone_ is
checking up on me.

I did not get any of this guy's health tips, except
that he walks an hour each day, has never smoked,
uses the whirpool or steamroom most days, and
socializes with his buddies most every day since
his wife died. He is also active in a few fraternal
and charitable organizations.

When I see him next, I'll press him for a source of
the magic elixir he must have.

I'm not a social person. Most times I think I share
some traits with good old Ted K. whom we've been
discussing recently.

I have no problem walking up to someone and introducing
myself. I do have a problem maintaining a conversation.
If I am in a small group of people, say 6 or less,
I feel comfortable. If I am in a large group, I'm
uncomfortable. In either situation I'm the quiet
one.Socially sensitive? Yup. But not nearly as self-
conscious as I used to be.

Often I feel intimidated, even here, by people who
are more intelligent than I, or who have impressive
degrees. Some times not. I have a friend who is
a veterinarian and a biology prof. I have a close
acquaintance who is a heart surgeon. We get along
great. Recently I met a guy at the lake. Late 50's,
friendly, wanted to talk, etc. He is a prof at a
local college, I was immediately intimidated by
that & backed off. Weird, huh?

I have tons of acquantances. Flying people, sailing
people, gym people, etc. But I have very few people
I consider friends. And none that I view as really
close friends. In light of what happened this
year with my friend/father-figure/surrogate family,
it will be a very long time before I'll trust again.

No comment on the firearms, you would not like my
view.

Gosh, I do go on don't I? Sorry.

Best to both of you
hb
PS I did go to the doc about the cough, got meds,
thanks
