Noa - That tornado passed through the campground where we use to go drinking when I was 16-17 years old. The RCMP never really bothered anyone as long as you weren't destroying anything. Green Acres Campground is about 20 minutes from my hometown of Red Deer which is 100 miles north of Calgary (and 100 miles south of Edmonton). Doppler radar would have only afforded 10 minutes lead time; this storm developed very quickly (an F-3).
What a tragedy! My dad and stepmom are sailing the South Pacific, but if they were home they would have been involved. My stepmom is an emerg nurse and my dad was a platoon chief at the firehall.
Another example of life being fragile and nature being awe-inspiring. Last I heard was 9 dead and 136 injured (I think someone may have died last night, reaising the total to 10).
- CamBTW - I was square dancing last Thursday and the owner of the drug store I work for came up to me and told me that manager of the pharmacists for our stores (my immediate boss) died suddenly. He was the guy that hired me 12 years ago and left me alone to do what I wanted with the store, which allowed me the opportunity to get involved with Mental Health Services.
He died from a bursting aneurism in a blood vessel in his abdominal cavity. Patti and I went to the funeral yesterday. A month ago he was at both Suzanne's viewing and her funeral. Life is bizarre at times. - Cam
