Hi Tracy,
Sounds, Familiar.
I want to pass on a few suggestions so you won't have to go through what I went through.
Keep an eye on the scale just to make sure the effexor doesn't cause a weight gain. As an anti
depressant at a higher doseage 300 mg and up it
worked great and after a month the sleepiness goes away. The problem I had was it caused a tremendous weight gain worst than celexa. It was the best antidepressant I ever took!!! I stuck with it, but the weight problem persisted.I just could not stand another pound gain. 50 lbs was enough!!!!!If you don't gain weight, wonderful!
If you do, my pdoc tried to treat it with combining with topomax and ranidine(antigas stuff)
but by that time, it was way out of control. After I stopped the effexor, I lost 20 pounds in
about 15 days. I stayed with the topomax, which did much of nothing. Today I take 50 mg of serzone and I have persuaded the doctor to add
a stimulant so I take adderall 3 times a day,
20 mg each time.My energy level is okay, my mental state is so so and I sleep well. Because of the last year experiment with antidepressants, I'm afraid to
go over 50 mg with serzone because of two reasons, I don't want anything else to slow me down or make me tired, I can't afford to put on anymore weight. Some people thing it's a matter of munchies and eating, which may in some instances be the case.
It wasn't in my situation.I hope effexor works for you. Keep an eye on the
scale to assure there is no weekly increase of
weight.Best of health! God Bless!

> Ok -- I am miserable. I am fatigued, sleep somewhere between 10-16 hours a day; zone off at my desk; feel like I am moving in slow-mo. Achey. Urinate non-stop. Up several times a night b/c of this latter issue. Forgetful -- like midsentence I can't remember what I was saying.. Can't concentrate -- which is a major problem with my first year of law school starting next week. I Lost 40lbs two years ago, went on celexa for depression, gained it all back and thensome (was on Meridia, and had to exercise 1.5 hours a day to get it off). Binge eating. Went on Wellbutrin to combat fatigue. Off celexa and wellbutrin, now on Effexor xr 150mg.

> I went in to my gp today, for a physical, at the urging of my pdoc, who thinks it might be a thyroid problem. It was tested a year ago, and it was smack in the middle of the range. This time, she also requested a cbc w/histogram diff; checm 7 profile; liver profile;ESR Westergren; TSH, T3, T4-Free.

And, it says that it will make me sleepy during the day. I don't need to be any more sleepy. She said it would boost the effexor? My pdoc is out for the week, and the two of them are suppose to talk next week.
