Zyban is for all practical purposes the same as Wellbutrin. Same thing, different names for different purposes. Wellbutrin (Zyban) is an antidepressant commonly used as an add-on to other ongoing antidepressant treatments. If an antidepressant isn't quite working completely, Wellbutrin is added to it. It is most commonly added to increase efficacy, increase response, boost sex drive, and conquer sedative side effects of other drugs.
Yes you can take it with Effexor. Common side effects are stimulation, anxiety, and insomnia. That doesn't mean you will have those side effects, but they are some of the more common ones. If you are having any sexual problems with Effexor, Zyban may work wonders in those areas. And it may help the Effexor work even better on your depression. Of course, sometimes people get worse instead. As the saying goes, your mileage may vary.
Zyban can be taken with Effexor. Effexor plus Wellbutrin (same as Zyban) is a common duo to treat depression. And if it helps you stop smoking, that's even better! :-)
