Didi - Done properly, withdrawl from any of these medications can be achieved with minimal discomfort. Most people can stop them without tapering, but I strongly recommend tapering be done. The length of time on should stay on Zoloft really depends upon the condition. Some people, if they respond well to the drug, may have to stay on the drug indefinitely. Some docs will taper the dose or try a "drug holiday" from medications to see if they are still needed. It really depends upon the individual situation, though.
