comimg off ativan

Posted by Julia on November 5, 2000, at 4:44:55

I have been on ativan for 6 weeks to help with an agitated depression:the idea being that it would help the agitation until the antidepressants worked.I tried citalopram(celexa) for 2 weeks which made me horrendously agitated, and then reboxetine for 4 weeks, which hasn't as yet done anything;I feel lower than before. The episode was precipitated by coming off dothiepin(a tricyclic available in England) too quickly. The ativan which I am taking at a dose of 3mg per day is however making the depression significantly worse-I can feel a dive after each dose.I think I want to go back onto the tried and tested tricyclic, which should also cope with the aagitation, but as the ativan seems to be doing me some harm,I want to come off it quickly. After 6 weeks use how quickly can I taper it?I am prepared to cope with some rebound anxiety,as the depression is becoming the worse problem.
