During the past month I have developed an eye twitch and am getting concerned that it is an early symptom of tardive dyskinesia. The twitching is intermittant but recurrent. I know that it is unusual to be taking respirdal for a non psychotic condition, but it has been the med that has been most effective for my anxiety and I would hate to have to stop it. But obviously if I am developing TD I need to.

Hi Ruth
I have major depression, mood disorder and rage. A mix of meds including an antipsychotic has been a life saver. I was on Mellaril for years with great success. But had to stop it due to my tongue always rubbing the back of my teeth. I let this go on for about a year, because I couldn't stop the Mellaril and continue coping in the world. Finally, I quit Mellaril (and lost my job) but the tongue movements continue even today. About three years later.
It's been extremely tough without the ap's. They are the most effective drugs for some people, schizophrenic or not (and I am not.).
I started Seroquel about 2 weeks ago, because my life was getting out of control again and I have tried everything out there with little success. The seroquel works famously! But I am worried. I think I am having increased tongue movements. More than usual. But the emotional relief is so significant, at this point it seems worth it to me to have the extra movement. Because if I go off it, I will have no med to fill the gap, and I will still have tongue movements. What a dilemma.
How is your eye twitch? And what did you decide to do?
