In reply to Norephramine is it addictive ?, posted by felix on November 30, 2000, at 14:46:19
Cocaine addicts have depleted lots of NT's, including
nor-e. Any AD can help with this. Just because a psyco med is effective in treating illicits abuse
does not render these meds suspect. The withdrawal syndrome
from Effexor has to do with it's short action (and being a stong
med) I am assuming you mean norepinephrine by Norephramine. NT's and
other essencial things are not addictive. To be addictive you need 1) an intital rush (whatever you want to call it)
2) Tolerance and 3) withdrawal when agent is stopped. In Effexor any positive effects
take weeks to develop and tolerance does not happen. If you call poop out tolerance
the time scale that this happens is off by a magnitude, years instead of weeks or months.I've started and stopped Effexor countless times since 1994 without
significant event. Any problems are limited to at most a week. It is a strong med that leave the body
quickly. It is reasonable to assume this will cause problems.
