I am currently taking 600 mg. per day of Neurontin for anxiety, so I obviously haven't experienced any withdrawal symptoms. I don't even feel the *need* to take Neurontin the way I have Xanax (and I don't always take the full 600 mg. of Neurontin everyday), but when I take Neurontin it oftentimes works better than Xanax. I don't know how much Neurontin you are taking per day, but since Neurontin is listed as an anticonvulsant, everything I've read suggests that you should taper this drug. Of course, the length of taper would likely depend on how much Neurontin you are taking per day. Neurontin does not appear to cause dependency, however. If I were to quit taking Neurontin and depend only on the 1 mg. of Xanax per day that I am currently taking, I am certain that I would have a return of all of my anxiety symptoms.
