In reply to Any (women) tried Amisulpride? Weight Gain?, posted by Lynne on December 6, 2000, at 10:42:38
Lynn,
I track people's responses to amisulpride. Amisulpride can, on occassion, cause weight gain, but if it does, it is usually only a moderate amount. There are exceptions though.
Of greater concern for women though is the good chance that it will cause missed menses, breast swelling and other symptoms of raised prolactin levels. Therefore I suggest that any women who takes amisulpride be prepared to take pramipexole or bromocriptine in conjunction with the amisulpride in order to maintain normal prolactin levels and eliminate these side effects along with any tendency towards weight gain. For an info. piece on amisulpride email me andrewb@seanet.com.
