Hi Mary.
Hair loss is a side effect of lithium. The same with Depakote. I am sure that stress can make it worse. Perhaps stress and diet are responsible for all of it. I think that selenium supplementation is often suggested for either scenario.
I am smiling at your description of the persistent change in the texture of your hair. I have seen this described before with lithium.
