I am an 18 year old female suffering from OCD and anorexia nervosa. Two years ago I was given 30 mgs of Paxil for my condition. After a month, my psychiatrist assest it would be safe to increase the dosage to 35 mgs. After a week I was feeling more anxious, extremely paranoid with clammy skin, tight neck muscles, shaky jaw, hands, insomnia and severe cold in the extremeties. Confusing a tightening of my throat with an asthma attack, I took my inhaler and went into hypertension. My psychiatrist than attempted to increase my dosage for a third time, so I complained to my insurance company, who sent me to a new doctor. He put me on Celexa. After my first dose, my eyes dialated, I had clammy skin and a tightness in all of my muscles. I went to the er, where they gave me a muscle relaxent and sent me on my way. Both times their diagnosis was malnutrition, and while that may have aided in the condition, it seems likely to me that it was seratonin syndrome after reading some of the medical reports. My psychiatrist does not want to give me anymore seratonin inhibators because of the Paxil and the Celexa. Are there alternative cures?
