Some ADs can cause dysmemorrhia -- painful periods, but this seems a bit much.
A visit to the gyn is in order first off, especially since it could merely be coincidental with the celexa.I know there is an interaction between serotonin and LH [luetinizing hormone, I believe] but you would need one of the med experts on this board to explain it to you.
If I see anything of interest in my travels I'll put up a link for you.You are correct that it is dangerous to go for long intervals w/out menstrating. The endometrium can build up and there is a significant link with increased incidence of cancer of the endometrium.
How old are you? Very young women sometimes cycle irregularly. Have you ever taken depakote? Do you have any symptoms of polycystic ovarian syndrome -- hirsutism, weight gain, acne?
It doesn't sound too great to feel suicidal during your cycle. I might be a bit pro-active about this sort of side-effect. Perhaps there is an add-on that you could take at this time?One caveat: most gyns are not hip to how sensitive many people are to birth control pills [the first line of defense against irregular cycles]. In certain women, BCP can create or increase depression, as can norplant and depo-provera, so tread lightly if this is offered.
