In reply to Neck Ache with Celexa, posted by Lesa on February 1, 2001, at 16:40:42
> Hello,
> Has any one heard of developing a neckache or the technical name "torticollis" from long term use of celexa. My Dr. believes that this is what is going on with my neck. Any info would be great. I decreased from 60mg to 10mg and I have noticed a significant change with my neck (more flexible, less rigid). However, now I am crying all day!!! Any suggestions???Hi Lesa,
I was on Celexa for several months and did develop neck into shoulder pain. Went to massage therapist thinking it was because of the way I sleep, but then when reduced and then stopped Celexa it went away as did the jaw clenching (which I think can cause neck pain as well) and also I got a rare side effect- bruising. Celexa worked for me in many positive ways though. My hope is you have weaned down to 10mg versus just droppping off from 60 mg per day to 10mg all of a sudden. I cried alot, just out of the blue so to speak. Lowering levels of serotonin, common side effect so I have read and I was grateful to have read it prior to it happening. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better, probably would have felt better without all my side effect stories, but there they are to help maybe. Take care,
jacquie
