Phentermine got a bad name because it was half of the phenfen combo that was withdrawn from the market. Later on it was found out that it was the fenfluramine that caused the heart valve problems,and not phentermine. It is an amphetamine type drug and schedule 4,although it doesn't seem to stimulate as well. > Here is one of the studies that took phentermine and its metabolite off the US market:
