Adderall and Young Children

Posted by TJD on February 21, 2001, at 11:54:29

Our son, age 8, has been on Ritalin for two years and in the beginning there was a nice change in his activity level at school. We are now considering asking his doctor to switch him to Adderall as he has again started to show signs of anxious movement behavior in his class, without knowing he is doing it. We are interested in chatting with anyone out there who has a young child on Adderall. Like most parents, we do not like to have our son on meds for anything, let alone a daily dose of something, and are very uncertain about this Adderall and its effects, both short and long term. He does not misbehave, it is more of a 'processing' issue than behavioral and we even sometimes wonder if he really is ADD/ADHD, he is super on a one-to-one basis. Any feedback any of you parents can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
