In reply to Prozac and Wellbutrin to Effexor, posted by Patches on March 17, 2001, at 13:40:49
Hi Patches,
I've had experience with all three of these meds.I was on Prozac two separate times, and each time it lost its effect after only two months! So for me, yes it is true that Prozac loses effectiveness in time (probably faster with me than with most, though.)
I am just now coming off of Effexor. I was on an Effexor + Wellbutrin combo (the Effexor made me very tired, so the Wellbutrin was added to help with the fatigue. It helped a little, but not enough -- that's why I'm going off.) The good news is ... I LOST weight with Effexor. So there's hope!
Keep us posted on what you decide.
- cindy> My t. wants to change me from wellbutrin and Prozac to Effexor. I've been in a slump lately, I think more from life's circumstances than body chemistry. I think the wellbutrin and Prozac combo have really helped. T. says Prozac loses effectiveness with time. Have been on it for about 5 years. Is this true? I don't want to gain weight with effexor. It sounds like this is the case. Can anyone help?
