Thanks again. Not sure why you would say my meds are complex - maybe I explained poorly... I'm taking wellbutrin. In addition, tring different meds to augment it, but trying them one at a time.
In any case, fortunately for me, my doc's leaving isn't in any sense traumatic for me. No "therapy," and I'm not really depressed in a 'sad' sort of way, so much as the fatigue/lack of energy/focus, etc. (mental & physical).
The worst part of it is that now that she trusts me enough to try stim's, she's leaving - hope it doesn't take forever to get to that point again. Especially since if they don't work, at least they can be ruled out quickly - you don't have to wait weeks to see if they have the desired effects... Anyway... that aspect, and the fact that she at least considers ideas I bring to her from places like here - even if she doesn't always jump at them... that'll be what I'll miss/hope to find again...
Good ideas/advice. Unfortunately, not sure if I'll be able to use the university w/my insurance. I'll have to do a bit more research on that aspect... But thanks again, that's a great question to ask re: referrals, once I figure out who to ask it of... thanks, michael
> well you definitely have a mood disorder and she is head of the dept. (and pretty famous in her field) so may be difficult to see. But my rule of thumb is to call a major University and ask for the chairman's dept and speak to his/her secretary and ask who they would send their son/daughter/sister/brother to. I have gotten great referrals that way. Your meds are somewhat complex and you could probably use a psychopharmacologist who tend to hang out in academic settings (and this one happens to be my alma mater). I assume you asked your present pdoc for a referral? It's hard to lose one, I'm sorry. Did you receive therapy from him/her? If so, it is their job to transition you to the new pdoc and give you 30 days notice in writing of their intention. Take care, judy
