Consensus on Seroquel weight gain?

Posted by anita on March 25, 2001, at 3:35:35

Hi,

Is it actually true that Seroquel causes little or no weight gain? In Essential Psychopharmacology, it is listed as causing more weight gain than risperidone and others. I am currently on risperidone for depression and it generally works well, but I have gotten prolactinemia from it and also gained 10 pounds in four months.

I would be willing to try switching over to Seroquel if it is possible to have no weight gain (or only 5 or so lbs.) from it in order to solve the prolactinemia problem. But if people think it is likely that I would gain more than 5 lbs. on low-dose Seroquel, I'd rather try Geodon.

What do people here think?

Thanks,
anita
