I think that as long as you feel better on Effexor, and the side effects are tolerable, it is probably a good idea to stick with it thru the course of your prescribed treatment.
I was on Effexor too, with no relief, terrible side effects and worse withdraw, so naturally I won't go near it, but others have had great success.
Everyone reacts differntly to ADs, and as long as you're progressing, I would not worry about the eventual withdrawal, it may cause you unnecessary anxiety and then you doc will have you taking another med!!

> I have been on Effexor Xr for about 4 weeks. I started off at 37.5 mg, then went to 75mg and then started 37.5mg & 75mg togethor. I have been at this dose for about a week. I have side effects of nausea at first, for like 3 days. My vision was a bit disturbed also. But that did go away. I have noticed a big improvement in my worrying and anxiety. I am more level headed and calm and not as irritable. Tomorrow I start 75mg 2x a day. That will be my max dose. My Doc suggested 2x a day because it does make me very tired. All this hype about withdrawal symptoms makes me want to quit while I am ahead. I am taking 112.5mg now, but tomorrow I will take 75mg in the am and 75mg in the pm. I guess I will notice side effects maybe tomorrow?? My doctor suggested Wellbutrin also before putting me on Effexor XR, "this med is suppose to not give you sexual side effect?" I have never been on an SSRI before, but so far so good. I am just scared of the withdrawal. My doctor said I should be able to go off of it in maybe 6 months to a year. Anyone have advise? Should I go to Wellbutrin? I don't have any complaints yet, except for the drowsiness, which I hope goes away in time?????
