Concerns about Effexor

I have just been given Effexor for depression and anxiety. I am 28 years old and ahve never taken medication for depression before. I have been reading this message board for the past few days and am now concerned. Has anyone out there had success? Should I even waste my time? I just want to feel better. I do not know what to expect. I just want to feel better. Please...your advice is much appreciated. Thank you.
