It's the appetite that does you in on remeron. I refused to believe that I was eating too much, and that is why I gained weight the first time. The second time (now) I wrote down everything I ate, and was careful to exercise. I dropped the weight from the first round, and have kept to a good weight. If you have the willpower to keep you caloric intake low you will do just fine. I got into trouble over the summer because remeron made me crave carbs, and I ate a ton of gummy candy and pretzels. Although these are fat free, the increase in calories made me gain so much weight I hit my highest weight ever. With some effort remeron doesn't have to make you fat.
