In reply to bipolar meds not working?, posted by super on April 19, 2001, at 10:28:40
Don't change anything about your life (your job) until you can be absolutely certain that the illness is not what's making feel bad about it.
You could raise your Depakote dose higher without more side-effects by switching to the new Depakote Extended Release formulation, taken once-a-day.
> What to do...diag is mild bipolar; been on combo of Wellbutrin, Depakote, and Xanax for over a year and a half, have been doing relatively well but recently (well, over the winter and still continuing) feel like I'm gradually falling apart again. I can't concentrate on work, don't know if it's a chemical issue or a 'don't like my work' issue (and if so then why wasn't this an issue before?) and I have been crying way too much and having trouble sleeping. Last time I saw my p-doc, she increased the Depakote dose (and the Xanax as needed), which seemed to help, but then I was having trouble waking up in the morning and was falling asleep driving to work so I went back down to 1 Depakote. Is this how medication 'poop out' happens? I can't take any SSRIs(they make me feel crazy), don't want to take Lithium (too many side effects)...I'm also wondering if I have ADD since I can't concentrate for the life of me.
