Gail
I was fifteen when I first started suffering from depression. All I had was therapy, which looking back is hard for a teenager to grasp. I had asked for medication, but hadn't got anything from the family doctor even though the psychologist supported the idea.
I'm really glad that there is more help out there for teenagers who need help. I sometimes have wondered how much of a difference it could have had for me regarding the distress that these disorders can cause.
I've been on effexor now since October and it has made a big positive improvement for me. (I started therapy again three years ago.) The side effects were a nuisance for me the first four months. Having a supportive family makes a big difference.
Best Wishes to you and your family!
