My problem with personality disorders is that the dx of one seems to give the physician a remit to halt further medical treatment. After all you can't alter someone's personality, can you? I must confess some ignorance in this matter. Wouldn't the treatment just comprise extensive psychotherapy, if anything at all? (anyone know any better?)
It was after I was refused further medication that I was handed a personality questionaire (which after reading, I promptly handed back). I think my pdoc was looking to explain the complete ineffectiveness of 9mths of his psychotherapy (CBT, BT, Group etc), I have been told by 3 English pdocs (the latter 2 of whom will have seen the 1st pdoc's notes & his errant conclusions) that I must 'learn to live' with suicidal depression. Yeah, yeah, good advice.
Rantette over.
