In reply to Effexor... Has anyone noticed?, posted by Michele on April 24, 2001, at 20:21:00
> I know I'm going to catch it for this.... but I can't help but notice.... When it comes to Effexor... it seems like people feel the same way... wether or not they quit cold turkey... or wean. But weaning seems to draw out the pain?
> Seriously.... I know it goes against the medical logic.. I mean, you'll have less pain by taking smaller doses... and letting your body get used to not having it... but is that really true? Sure, it's true in theory... but looking at this board...I'm not sure it wouldn't be better just to quit cold turkey and get it over with. I definatley wouldn't think that before... but reading all these posts... the weaning doesn't seem to be helping any except in postponing?
> This isn't my opinion necessarily... just what I've observed on both this board... and circle friends. Any comments?I tried 3 times to "wean" off Effexor XR by alternating days at 37.5 mg. I was a wreck. After resuming use for a few days, this last time I weaned by reducding the dose but taking every day.
2 weeks at 18 mg, 1 week at 10-12 mg. then I stopped. I did get some vertigo, headache, and wooshing sounds in my head, but nothing like the previous attempts. I'd say weaning worked to diminish withdrawal for me... I'm only 4 days off it now so far...
