Hi there,
have you been diagnosed with hypochondria? It is often confused with clinical depression or anxiety disorder. It belongs to a totally different cluster of disorders: somatoform and dissociative ones, not mood disorders which also entail distortions in perception of Self.
Have you read Phantom Illness: Shattering the Myth of Hypochondria by Carla Cantor with Brian Fallon,M.D. ? If yes, do you recognize yourself in the picture it displays? Does your treatment match the one outlined in the book? From what you told here you are being treated from anxiety mostly. This might not be enough.
You might want to contact a specialist in somatic disorders.
I haven't suffered from hypochondria myself, but was plagued by the similar to your thoughts during the last 3-4 years of my depression. you are right, it is extremely painful experience to go through. now they are gone along with the depression.
good luck
mila
