Hi, I had a few questions playing on my mind about the alpha-adrenergic(noradrenaline) selective agonist Adrafinil. To me, this smart-drug is appealing because it mimics the neurotransmitter unlike conventional antidepressants will allow the little neurotransmitter of a depressed person to circulate for a few months due to re-uptake/MAO inhibition before relapse back into despair-in my experience.
Is Adrafinil an effective antidepressant for the clinically depressed or is it more of an energy-booster for anyone who feels they need a boost as some reports claim?
What are the enzymes involved in Adrafinil metabolism and should I be concerned about any drug-drug interactions while taking this drug?
Further information on these issues from the dr-bob members would be much appreciated.
