In reply to Zoloft, Wellbutrin Bulimia, posted by Helen Church on May 31, 2001, at 19:40:50
Helen,
I suffered from a relapse of bulimia after having no problem with it for 12 years. It came on after We llbutrin was added to my Zoloft and Depakote was added (for BP II and migraine control) on top, which caused significant weight gain.
My hypothesis (and I'm not educated as many on this board are on the chemistries) is that Zoloft left me with problems with impulse control, hence the bulimic eating patterns. The Wellbutrin gave me agitation, which gave me the "what the hell, what's the point" attitude that put me over the edge. And once I began taking Topamax, it drove me below my set point weight, which is one theory on what triggers anorexia. I lost 40 pounds, but had many negative side effects there, too, which you may be very familiar with if you are DX with not just one disorder but both.
Greetins all
