Meds do wear out or poop out in many cases. I have been through quite a number - TCAs, SSRIs, Effexor, Serzone, among them – and in varying lengths of time from 3 to 6 months, they all quit working or worked less well to the extent that I switched. Four weeks on an AD is not very long so there might be some benefit in a longer trial or increased dosage. There are a number of good posts on this board about ‘ other meds’ and med augmentation. Combination of several ADs has worked for me. I currently take Wellbutrin, Prozac and Remeron. One thing this board did for me was to alleviate my fear that I would simply run out of options. There are lots of things to try. And yes, meds are not the total answer but without them I am unable to function at a level where I can do other things to help myself. One suggestion – be very aware of what signals a downhill trend for you and don’t hesitate to contact your doc early to increase dosage, add something else or change meds. I used to wait too long and suffer needlessly.
By the way – your English is just fine.
