Wilm,
I read a few interesting articles about how 5-HTP is beneficial for depression (something about how it's a pre-cursor to serotonin or one of those). I decided to try it out & found that it offered no benefits for me. I can't remember how much I was taking, but after about 3 weeks on it, with no changes, I stopped it.sunny
> Seeking comment on 5-HTP for depression. Been taking Atenolol 75mg for past 3 months for HBP. Also taking a mild dose of Maxide. Starting to notice signs of depression & fatigue which are known side effects of Beta Blockers like Atenolol. My doc recommends effoxor. I'm hesitant. The threads I've seen lean toward the negative side for side effects & withdrawl problems.

The literature I've seen indicates some contraindications if HBP is present. But it seems thast Effexor raises BP as well.
