There's a microphone in the machine through which the tech communicates with you constantly (and you can speak to them at all times). They'll tell you "This one will be about two minutes" and for those two minutes you have to remain still. More than likely, you'll be so intrigued by the weird noises (very much like someone banging on different sized metal pipes - with no rhythm at all to the banging) that you'll be surprised when they say "Okay, you can move or cough or scratch your nose until we're ready to do the next one." I don't think any of the tests were longer than three minutes each.

I don't know where you live, but in our state (Maryland) we have "wide open mri." You are not enclosed. You may want to see if that is available in your area!Debbie
