withdrawel from Xanix and Zoloft

Posted by Patricia L. Badalamento on July 29, 2001, at 17:38:42

I have been on 100 mg of Zoloft and xanix (for panic attacks) for about 5 years. I tried reduced my xanix over the years to 1 per day. Recently I tried to do withou and after 2-3 days had a dissy spell that lasted for hours. I gave in and took a xanix and it stopped immediately. I only take 25 mg and can only imagine the withdrawal effects of a higher dose.
Now my Doctor wants me to see how I can do without the Zoloft (100mg)that I have taken for 5 years.
She was not the original prescriber but has been filling the script for the past few years as I haven't need to go to theropy. She would not refill them and I had only a few left. She said just take 1/2 a day and quit. Tday is the first day without and I have a bad feeling this will not work. I am extremely irritable and have no appetite. I too have gained 20 lbs on Zoloft. I found a great addiction to anything chocolate my worst problem.
I am so glad I found this site and info because I don't think my Doctor knows what I will go through. I am calling her tommorrow to get my Zoloft refilled so I can wean off slower. I don't think that 50mg a day for three days is enough to get off this drug!!
