Several times there have been posts asking if it's really O.K. to drink alcohol while taking medications. Obviously meds vary, but for the most part it SEEMS (please note I am using that term here to absolve myself from any further posts saying I told people to mix alcohol and drugs) to be O.K. to have a drink while taking prescriptions. Except, of course, for the long-term effects.
I have continued to drink while taking both AD's and mood stabilizers, sometimes to excess, sometimes for several days in a row.
Well, it's finally becoming clear to me how this interferes with your "recovery."
I'm starting to feel better on average, except for some lingering side effects such as SEDATION, ug, and when I drink now, even a glass or two, it upsets my mood. I actually feel worse. Especially the next day or two.
So, my humble observation is, if your meds are working, it may be that the need to self-medicate actually does cease. It doesn't mean the habit does. But for that, I'm thinking of switching to smoking.
Just an observation.
