serotonin and anxiety

Posted by PaulB on August 14, 2001, at 16:54:40

Hi

Im trying to find out about the serotonin receptors that are indicated in the different types of anxiety disorders.

It is my understanding that 5-HT1a is the particular serotonin subtype that regulates generalised anxiety disorder and 5-HT2 a or c(Im confused)may regulate obsessive and panic 'types' of anxiety.

I would much welcome views on this and whether these are the serotnin receptors significant for regulating the above mentioned anxiety disorders. Thanks
PaulB
