I'd like to add that I waited a few weeks before trying so much as a glass of wine. I decided that my body was having enough of a struggle to adjust to the medication without complicating the process by ingesting alcohol. I just thought that was common sense.

I have heard on this board that if you are a regular drinker that suddenly stopping alcohol consumption while starting Wellbutrin might make you more suseptible to seizures. I'm not sure that this is so for Effexor. So I guess one could argue that moderate use of alcohol may not be as bad as the warnings may suggest.
