>It is not so rare that a brief exposure to a drug can produce long-lasting or permanent changes. I have had two or three experiences in which my baseline depression was made worse or somehow different after a two to four week trial of a drug. One of these post-exposure periods lasted for longer than six months.
You might have no better option than to find a way to adequately treat the symptoms of this syndrome or reduce their severity. If you do find something that works, I should think that it makes sense to continue it for at least six months steadily before attempting to withdraw these medications. It is quite possible that this syndrome might disappear quickly were you to find a successful treatment for your depressive and anxiety disorders.
I had a few thoughts. First, you might want to have tested your thyroid function. It is possible that hyperthyroidism is responsible for your experiences. Perhaps you triggered or made worse a dysautonomia associated with your mental illness. Your doctor should know of ways to approach this. Using a beta-blocker like propanolol might be appropriate. Another thought I had is that your brain might be stuck in a sort of a state of a mild panic attack. If this is the case, you might want to consider Neurontin.
Sorry I had nothing more definitive.
