I had a really tough time getting off of Effexor. It was easy for the first cuts--to 75 mg, then just got very tough. I have read that the thing to do is to augment the Effexor (which has a very short half life that is supposed to contribute to the withdrawal difficulties) with Prozac (which has a much longer half life) for about a week when you hit the fairly inevitable rough patch. Other people have said that thera-flu helps--check to make sure you have no med interactions though. I think Psychcentral has some good info on Effexor withdrawal. You can do it. (Benzos might help too.) My experience though was that Effexor worked for me and that once I got off, I couldn't get it to work for me again. Anyway, good luck...keep us posted
> Hi, I'm coming off of 150 mg of Effexor a day because my doctor wanted me to "also" be on 25 mg of Seroquel to help with sleep.
> I am additionally taking 450 mg of lithium, along with 100 mg of Topomax. I have stopped taking the Seroquel after a week, cut the Topomax to 50 mg and reduced the Effexor to 112.5mg. I'll do this for 2 weeks and then go down to 75 mg on the effexor and to 35 then try none. Yes, I'm a mess. My head is a fog, I'm lost and slightly confused....but I'm not at all depressed.
