I can't complain too much, because, after a year of trying and tweeking meds, I feel I'm really on the right track to the perfect combo. BUT - any similar experiences/ feedback from this site really helps me force my pdoc to answer my questions thoroughly...
Taking Adderall 20mg x 3 for ADHD (huge benefit for concentration, study, no tolerance in 8 mos, has exact duration - very predictable).
Was on Wellbutrin for post-partom for a while. Had some increased agitation and my frustration tolerance for objects (broke 3 or 4 phones in a short time...) and was definitely more impatient with my twins. Ditched the Wellbutrin and found a LOT of relief with the Adderall only. But, the post-partom crap and frustration tolerance was still at hand.
4 months ago, my pdoc suggested Prozac. I've hesitated with SSRIs because the first med I ever tried was Paxil. It WIPED me out- slept too much, felt like a zombie. Kept anxiety away, but ill effects were too much.
Anyway - started w/10mg Prozac. No effect after 6 wks - raised dose to 20mgs and noticed a big difference in frustration tolerance and a change from overall bitchy to actually being "sweet" once in a while.... I was on 20mg for 8 weeks - Just 2 weeks ago, my pdoc bumped it up to 30mg. He said, "we gotta get you a little sweeter yet....") I asked him what to look for regarding a sign of the dose being TOO MUCH. I've read SO MUCH CONFLICTING info. about dosage recommendations and signs of too much. My pdoc insists that "I'll know when the dose is too much when I become TOO mellow." (Yeah, right like that's possible :)
Does this sound right? I would just hate to go backwards and spend that 4-6 week "trial period" with effects like the Wellbutrin. Any similar experiences and overall opinions is appreciated! Thanks in advance.
