I agree with james, difficult to know whether it is the cause or the effect.
But further, the study is discussing abuse, not just use. It may seem like just a question of semantics, but I think that the difference is a legitimite differentiation.
It's the same concept as is used to differentite alcohol use from alcohol abuse. Nobody claims that casual/occassional drinking is detrimental to one's health, but drinking to the extent that it affects job performance, or drinking on the job, is clearly a problem. michael
