Dreamer - You should be able to go down to 25mg a day, almost immediately, as long as you've had no rash problems. If you realy want, you could wait a day or two, but with Lamictal™ (lamotrigine), if you have been taking it for more than a week, dropping back to 25mg a day because of cognitive problems (or other adverse effects - outside of rash), there is no problem to start immediately at the lower dose.
If it was a rash that caused you to stop, I'd wait at least a month of being rash-free before trying a rechallenge of Lamictal at lower doses. Keep a good line of communication open with your pdoc during the rechallenge. Don't be paranoid, just diligent, when watching for a rash. Don't be in a hurry to increase the dose. Ask your doc, as I tend to suggest raising the dose too slowly (I've been told). I guess you have to balance the need for effect against the severity of adverse effects.
