> Since I started going off neurontin a little over a week ago, I have been experiencing more depression and more anxiety than I had in the months before I went on it. (I have been on it for about 2 months, peaking dose at 3200, on it for hypomania mostly.) I am now unable to sleep without Ambien, which I have only been taking sporadically so as to not get too dependent. Nights like tonight when I try to get by without it, I'm up usually until about 3 or 4am & getting up at 7. Tonight is the worst--can't get to sleep yet, and I'm shaking, nauseous, and ready to plead with someone to ck me into a hospital. Dx is cyclothymia, supposed to start Depakote, but now I'm thinking if it is this hard to w/d from meds, maybe I shouldn't get onto something else. Please help. Thanks in advance.
Just a thought, but I wonder if your doc would let you go back on a lower dose of Neurontin and *add* in some Depakote instead?? There have been some positive posts about combining the two together at lower doses. My primary mood stabilizer is Neurontin and it helps with depression better than Depakote. I had a good experience generally combining Neurontin+Depakote. But, Depakote gives me a lot of tremor. You might ask about a low-dose combo.
