> ScottHi Scott,
I have Cyclothymia, which I think would be the equivalent of Bipolar 3 1/2 :)A normal month for me would be:
Week 1: depressed
Week 2: normal
Week 3: depressed
Week 4: feel great--not hypomanic- just feel better than normal.
Week 5: depressedI don't ever think I've been hypomanic, and I certainly have never been manic.
I have tried a few atypical mood stabilizers over the years and one atypical anti psychotic (Seroquel) with disastrous results. I've never tried Lithium or any other 'typicals' (I think my pdoc was too lazy to worry about blood tests).
The only times that I've done well, with less than normal depressive periods--Klonipin was one of my meds. An AD doesn't seem to do it by itself, it's like the Klonipin lays the foundation for the AD to work. Like other 'mood stabilizers' it calms certain parts of the brain.
BTW: It’s the only Benzodiazepine drug that is indicated as a mood stabilizerFor me, Klonipin is the star of the show. I take 1 1/2 mg in the evening, and it seems to suit me just fine. I'm also taking 300 mg a day of Wellbutrin and 200 mg a day of Modafinil (Provigil).
Good luck,
Tim
