Doctors tend to do that, especially when mental diseases are involved. I always check what my doctor prescribes before buying and taking it. I told her she needs to be straight with me else, one faux pas and I'll find another doc.
If they think you have a mental disease, there can be this idea in their mind that they know better than you, and that you can't really know what's good for you right now anyway, because your brain function are distorted. Hence the double-doctoring. I find it despicable. If at least they took the time to discuss with you and try to convince you, that would be more acceptable tham to treat you like an unreasonable child.
I hope you find a way to stop the music.
