In reply to weird side effects to celexa !!!!!!!!, posted by crazychickuk on January 31, 2002, at 17:22:33
Unforunately, I probably won't be much help but consider - are you sure you're feeling side-effects now a week later? Could you perhaps be coming down with some viral infection instead? Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference if a person isn't used to the medication & doesn't always know what to expect. Kind of like trying to first judge whether someone has a summer cold or has allergies instead.
I take 40 mg Celexa & have no side-effects that I know of. I tend to develop muscle tension in my neck & shoulders very easy any time. Maybe it became worse on Celexa but it was hard for me to be sure as while it's always there, it varies in severity. And I've had old injuries that also contribute to muscle tension.
For muscle tension, my best suggestion may sound a little dumb but I'll put music on (not fast, hard music - more eastern), & dance & sway moving my hands, arms, shoulders & neck slowly (& probably only in my mind, gracefully) to loosen & relax muscles while 'feeding' my heart & spirit at the same time.
I do get a dry mouth a little, especially every time I brush my teeth. I chew sugarless gum for the dryness. But don't go overboard chewing, spit it out when your mouth's no longer dry. Too much makes your jaws sore instead. I'll let my jaw drop open sometimes & waggle it about a bit (when no one's around) to stop jaw tension too. Hope this is of some benefit.
