I quit the Effexor because it was mildly elevating my blood pressure. Not much, but too much to stay on it longterm. I took Effexor for about six months. Of that, three months was on a high dose and that was when I ran into the mild blood pressure elevations. I only got the BP elevation when I went above 150 mg in dosage. Like 225 mg and above. I found it was a fantastic antidepressant in the high dosages however. The reason high dose Effexor can elevate blood pressure is because it increases norephinephrine at medium and high dosages.
