Depakote is divalproex sodium, a drug that may work by increasing CNS levels of gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter. Depakote is used for a variety of conditions (i.e., prophylaxis of migraine headache; absence and complex partial seizures; mania associated with bipolar disorder).
